Theatrical Thursday

Okay, this week I'm recommending a BBC drama called -

(short summary)
(because I don't trust myself not to spoil it.)

This one is a grand total of 4 hours long, so you may want to divide it into two parts lest you want to stay up until all hours of the morning like I did. The question is... will you be able to divide it up between two nights?

My friends, this mystery has enough twists and turns to make Sherlock Holmes look like child's play.

Before I go on, I do want to mention that this drama is based on the lesbian novel of the same name "Fingersmith" by Sarah Waters. If homosexual relations bother you, pass on this one. There's nothing terribly explicit about this film (not any more than you would see in awkward romance scenes from The Notebook ) which almost makes it all the more beautiful.

By the end of the first act, I wanted to tear my hair out, and while I would love to go into more detail on that, I would spoil the whole thing.

This is really one of those movies that you just have to watch. You can't really say anything about it without giving it away.

The only particular criticism I have is "what a drab soundtrack :| .... weird jazz riffs...."
